The Bedford Trio brings Parisian charm to the stage with the timeless music of Debussy and Paul Schoenfield’s delightful piano trio, Café Music!

Founded in 2016, The Bedford Trio is already thrilling audiences with their dynamic, elegant, and energetic performances. Made up of members Alessia Disimino (violin), Andrew Ascenzo (cello), and Jialiang Zhu (piano), they recently made their Ottawa Chamberfest debut in May 2018 and were named the first piano trio to be selected for the Irene R. Miller Piano Trio Residency at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music for the 2018/19 season.

The Bedford Trio is devoted to bringing live music into the community and performs regularly in hospital in-patient units, community centres, retirement homes, and schools as part of their ongoing musical outreach initiatives. All members are avid music educators and appear as guest instructors at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music and various music festivals in Ontario.

From Bach to Broadway, The Hogtown Brass Quintet brings energy, humour, and skill to a show guaranteed to bring a smile to your face!

The Hogtown Brass Quintet is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of the traditional brass ensemble. Formed in 2013, HBQ is a collaboration among five accomplished and diverse musicians from a variety of musical backgrounds, ranging from classical to pop to jazz. In June 2017, HBQ was a featured performer at the TD Toronto Jazz Festival. Their debut recording, ‘Introducing…’, featuring brand new arrangements and original compositions for brass quintet in a variety of styles and genres, was nominated for a 2017 Toronto Independent Music Award.

This show will feature the premiere of a new work by award-winning Markham jazz composer, Robert Lee.

Immerse yourself in the sounds of the cinema as pianists Victor Cheng and Kevin Lau perform the music from classic blockbusters such as Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Superman, as well as music from a galaxy far, far away! These masterful, creative, yet faithful arrangements by Kevin Lau, one of Canada’s leading young composers, will make you feel like you are reliving those moments of pure movie magic.

York Region pianist, organist, and conductor, Victor Cheng has already established himself as a multifaceted musician. As a pianist, Victor has worked with esteemed organizations such as the National Ballet of Canada, the Glenn Gould School, Toronto Concert Orchestra, and the Bach’s Children’s Chorus. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance from the University of Toronto.

Described as a ‘self-assured voice’ (Barczablog) Kevin Lau has established himself as one of Canada’s leading young composers. Kevin’s music has been performed by major ensembles including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, National Arts Centre Orchestra, and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. He recently composed the score for the National Ballet of Canada’s original full-length ballet Le Petit Prince (which premiered in June 2016).
